Last week, our residents teamed up with the Moreton Rainbows for a delightful Earth Day 2025 gardening session.
Together, they planted sweet pea seeds, each pot adorned with a tripod of sticks to support the growing plants.
A Cultural Journey to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre 
To celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday, our residents embarked on a cultural trip to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
They enjoyed a guided tour of the costume exhibition, gaining insights into the history and craftsmanship of theatrical attire.
VE Day Remembrance & Indoor Street Party! 
This week our residents celebrated VE Day in style with a nostalgic indoor street party!
They watched the televised commemorations and reflected on personal memories—some even shared stories of being in London 80 years ago.
May Day with Sarah’s Sax & Clarinet
To mark May Day, residents were serenaded by Sarah, whose smooth saxophone and clarinet tunes filled the home with joy.
From Elvis and Acker Bilk to theme songs like Bright Eyes, the music stirred up sweet memories.
Hat-Making Fun! 
Our residents celebrated May Day with a creative twist—designing their very own Morris Dancing hats! Using a wide array of craft supplies, everyone dived into the activity with humour and flair.
The results? A selection of brilliant, daft hats modelled with pride and plenty of smiles. Sometimes, a bit of silliness is just what we need.
A Moment with Richard & Kim 
We held our quarterly Residents & Relatives Meeting, and couldn’t resist capturing this heartwarming moment between Kim, our Home Manager, and our resident Richard.
Richard is often reserved, so it was lovely to see him relaxed and smiling after the meeting—proof of the trust and warmth that builds over time here at Esmere Gardens.
Arthur’s Special Visitors 
Arthur had a joyful visit from his young friends from church this week! The children brought toys and games, and the whole family joined Arthur for a friendly board game (plus cake, of course!).
We love seeing these intergenerational bonds flourish—so much laughter, storytelling, and connection across generations.
A Fluffy Visit from Fairytale Farm! 
We were thrilled to welcome some very special two-legged visitors to Esmere Gardens this week—adorable, week-old chicks from Fairytale Farm!
Hand-reared and comfortable around people, these little fluffballs brought joy, smiles, and a whole lot of “aww” moments to our home.
Wheelchair-Friendly Planter in Full Bloom!
Our gardening club had a wonderful moment this week as the herbs we began growing from seed earlier this spring were finally planted out into our new wheelchair-accessible planter!
Lovingly nurtured on windowsills in eggboxes, the young herbs—especially the wonderfully fragrant basil—are now thriving outdoors and being enjoyed by everyone.

Tea, Scones & Sunshine at The Old Shed!
Our residents headed out on a scenic trip to The Old Shed in Charlbury for a delightful cuppa and scone.
The sun was shining, the views were fantastic, and we even had a few cheeky birds join us for the crumbs!
